SH House

A warm and supportive children’s residential home in Smethwick for young people aged 14–18 with learning disabilities, autism spectrum conditions and mental health and associated needs.

The home offers seven individual self-contained living areas, each with a bedroom, bathroom, kitchen and lounge/diner, alongside a shared lounge, garden and sensory room.

Support services

We provide 24/7, person-centred support delivered by a highly skilled and compassionate team, trained in the Positive Behaviour Support Model to help young people develop more positive ways of managing their behaviour.

Our team members use the PACE approach — playfulness, acceptance, curiosity and empathy — to bring about a happier, more stable care experience, with a trauma-informed approach to every relationship.

What we offer

Safe, stable and consistent care alongside opportunities for growth — support with education, life skills, emotional wellbeing and developing independence, plus a wide range of hobbies, sports and creative activities.

Each young person has a tailored care plan and access to good health, education and personal development support, alongside practical guidance and support to maintain family connections and cultural or religious practices.

Life at SH House is about balance — combining structure and personal safety with opportunities for choice and independence. Young people can enjoy communal time together or find comfort in their own care flat, with team member support to make positive decisions, explore their talents and celebrate achievements.

Smethwick is a welcoming, family-focused community within the Borough of Sandwell, with excellent transport links to Birmingham. Young people benefit from access to schools, colleges, leisure facilities and cultural opportunities, plus a wide range of youth services and inclusive community activities.
